Barrister Calistus Nwabueze Obi
Information reaching the newsroom of Tectono Business Review has it that a lawyer, Barrister Calistus Nwabueze Obi, has been made the acting Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) following the directive by the Federal Government to Dr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi to hand over.

We gathered that until his appointment, Barrister Calistus Obi was the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services in the agency. He brings over two decades experience in the public sector, law practice and the maritime industry into his new responsibility.

A statement, made available to Tectono Business Review, signed by the Deputy Director/Head Public Relations of the agency, Isichei Osamgbi, has it that Barrister Obi, who hails from Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991 after duly completing the mandatory studies at the Law School. According to him, the new acting DG also holds a post graduate diploma in Public Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He added: “The acting DG is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), member of the International Bar Association (IBA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, among membership of several other professional associations.”
