ENUGU INVESTMENT SUMMIT: GOV. UGWUANYI REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE FROM DFID

The governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has requested for support from the Department for International Development (DFID) to organize an investment summit for the state to be exposed to the international community in order to draw more lifelines for its economic agenda. This request was made in order to ameliorate the economic problems facing Enugu State and Nigeria at large.

The best-selling and most sought after online business and political news and articles publishers, Tectono Business Review, got to know about this request when the governor received a delegation of the DFID led by its Head of office in Nigeria, Mr. Ben Mellor, who was in the governor’s office on a courtesy visit.

Mr. Ben Mellor, in his address, extoled Chief Ugwuanyi for his inventiveness in setting up the Economic Advisory Committee. According to him, it is a paramount venture capable of helping the government to achieve its four-point agenda anchored on continuity and consolidation. He made it clear that DFID would support Chief Ugwuanyi’s vision for Enugu State and also promised him that his requests would be considered in order to maintain the cordial relationship that exists between the two countries and actualize the set objectives of the agency.

The visibly excited governor, in his response, thanked the DFID for its involvement in sustainable development in Enugu State and dedication to continue to partner with the state on the issues of inclusive growth, continuity and consolidation of the laudable programmes of the state government. According to him, the summit will not only discuss business opportunities in the state but will also be beneficial to the entire south east states in terms of investment promotion and enhanced economic growth.
