Owing to many road projects going on in Enugu State, flagged off by the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, stakeholders in the state are thrilled over his pace and performance in the last six months. The stakeholders stated that the nature and people-oriented approach of the governor to governance was unequaled in the state.

According to them, Chief Ugwuanyi could emerge as the best governor the state has ever produced since the return to democratic governance in the country at the expiration of his tenure and if he does not derail. They, therefore called on the governor to improve his efforts more by embarking on more projects, which they said would be in fulfillment of his campaign promises.

One of the stakeholders who is an Enugu-based industrialist and Group Managing Director of Wilson Group, Chief Williams Agbo, who expressed his happiness over the on-going road construction projects in the state, drew the attention of the governor to the numerous other needs starring the people of the state in the face.

He reminisced that the governor had in the build up to the 2015 elections enjoyed an extraordinary solidarity and support from the people, adding that Chief Ugwuanyi’s emergence was a dream come true for the citizenry and as such should come with it numerous dividends of democracy.

At the flag off ceremony of the Obe-Achara-Urban Girls-Umukashi-Ikenga Hotel Road, Nsukka which was awarded to Arab Contractors Ltd, Chief Agbo joined the other stakeholders to thank the governor for his development strides in the state.

While addressing newsmen after the ceremony, Chief Agbo stated that the governor had shown his determination to improve the lives of the people of the state by providing qualitative social amenities. He, therefore, urged the governor never to relent in his good works, saying that the reward for hard work is more work.

In Chief Agbo’s own words: “I could remember vividly during the campaign when the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) alongside their candidate, Governor Ugwuanyi came to solicit our votes; they promised to construct all these roads that have been flagged-off today. Just six months into his administration, more than 10 road projects have been flagged-off in the state and constructions have commenced on them simultaneously. This is a clear indication that this government will work for the interest of the people and it will be highly appreciated.”

While stating the economic implications of the roads when they were completed, Chief Agbo said that the roads would pave way for economic development of the state. He pointed out that there would be a boom in economic activities even as it would encourage industrialists and manufacturers to site companies in the state.

Chief Agbo equally called directed the attention of the governor to the area of youth empowerment.

He said: “I believe that Governor Ugwuanyi will write his name in gold if he continues the way he is going now. There is no doubt that his administration has a lot of work to do especially in the area of youth empowerment; it is so glaring that many of our youths are unemployed. The road projects which are ongoing are very important, but we believe he can deliver on all his election promises; all he needs is time, our support and prayers.”
