THIS PUBLIC NOTICE
IS RELEASED TO PROVIDE A PRELIMINARY GUIDELINE FOR COMPENSATION TO VICTIMS OF
THE EXPLOSION AT OUR NNEWI LPG PLANT
BACKGROUND
Resulting
from the unfortunate explosion at the Intercorp
LPG Plant in Nnewi on December 24,
2015, the company immediately made an arrangements and paid for the medical
treatment of all those injured by the explosion. It also began a survey of the
damage and documenting potential claims of losses. The Chairman and senior
executives of the company paid personal visits to each affected family in Nnewi
and also visited all those injured in the hospital. The company has been
cooperating with regulatory agencies investigating the explosion towards
finding the remote and immediate causes of the explosion as a means towards
preventing reoccurrence of such calamity in Nigeria. Without prejudice to the
findings of the investigations, the company has begun a process to pay
compensation to those affected by this sad incident.
REGISTER OF CLAIMS
A
Register of Claims was opened by our company on the 4th day of January, 2016
and placed at the Gatehouse of the RIMCO
Factory Complex at RIMCO Drive, Akwu Uru Industrial Estate, Uru, Nnewi,
Anambra State (Gatehouse). Various claims have been recorded in the Register of
Claims and we are by this Public Notice requesting any person or close relative
of any person who has suffered a personal, economic or property loss and who
has not already done so to ensure that the particulars of the loss and claims
have been included in the Register of Claims at the Gatehouse. Take note that
the Register of Claims will close by 5pm
on the 4th day of March, 2016.
IMPORTANT
CONSIDERATIONS
We
use this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous support and understanding we
have received from the public and those who have suffered losses by this sad
incident. Sharing our grief as we trust in God for healing and comfort is
helping us through this difficult period. We urge continued support and request
full compliance with this notice and subsequent directives to help us avoid
potential disruption of the compensation process by fraudsters. Each claim for
compensation will pass a verification process towards ensuring that
compensation reaches the true and entitled beneficiaries. While we acknowledge
that no compensation will be sufficient to compensate some persons for
personal, economic or property loss; we shall nevertheless diligently and
painstakingly ensure that all those who have suffered will be compensated and
supported by our company to the limit possible.
