You are welcome to this week’s
edition of Marriage Management Matters
(3M) on Tectono
Business Review. This week, we are discussing the importance of
husband and wife interceding for each other. From our continuous interaction
with married couples across tribes, language, races, colour and ethnicity, it
is very surprising to notice that many married couples do not intercede for
each other in the time of challenges.
During one of our intervention
sessions, one of our counselors was involved in mediating between a man who is
not staying together with his wife of about five years of marriage that produced two beautiful daughters. It is important to know that the man in question is
reverence as a man of God within the community.
So, 3M senior counselor asked him
the last time he prayed for his wife and the man replied, “Why pray for her? Is she a baby? Can’t she pray for
herself?” The counselor tried to get the level of love in the
marriage and discovered the man to be too difficult to have forgiving spirit
and still holds on to the past.
A better example of how important
intercessory prayer is for married couples is recorded in Exodus 17:11, “And so it was when Moses held up his hand that Israel
prevailed and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.” At this
juncture, it is very important to sing it that Satan is the greatest enemy of
married couples. Satan is always busy working tirelessly to scatter marriages
that the Lord has put together.
The bible verse above which mentioned
that that when Moses withdrew his hand, the opponent prevailed is a classical
example what is being seen in homes where partners do not pray for each other
during cases of difficult situations.
What is it that your partner is
facing today? Remember that the Lord said in Psalm 2:8, “Ask of me and I will give you the nation of your inheritance and the end
of the earth for your possession.” So, be informed again that the
opponent will not wait for you to inherit the promise of the Lord concerning
your marriage and the possession of the earth just like that. Therefore, be
aware that the battle is on. Keep praying for your spouse so that together, you
shall be victorious.
