GOV. UGWUANYI UNDERSCORES THE NEED OF ICT IN POVERTY ALLEVIATION

The Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has pinpointed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a mean to swift development, required for alleviation of poverty, unemployment and backwardness in the society.

Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi ICT Centre at Agbani in Nkanu West local government area of the State.

Gburugburu, as the governor is known as, stated that no significant development could take place in this 21st century without ICT competence, adding that such technology was needed to bail the people from the clutches of poverty.

Chief Ugwuanyi, who was Udenu Local Government Area Chairmanship aspirant in the year 2003, assured that his administration was ready to partner any organisation, groups or individual, committed to the empowerment of the youths through manpower training and development in the state.

The Governor, who was an insurance broker before venturing into partisan politics, extolled the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West, Hon. Afam Okereke, for setting up ICT Centre in the council, referring to it as a step in the right direction to get the rural populace competent to compete with their colleagues outside the community. He also attributed such gesture by the Chairman as a complement to the agenda of the present administration.
