GOD MADE MAN (GENESIS 1:26.31A)

- By Chidinma Ijele

God said, “Let us make man in our own image in the likeness of ourselves and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth.” God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. God blessed them saying to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and conquer it.Be masters of the fish in the sea, the birds of heaven and all living animals on the earth.” This is the word of the Lord

FOURTH LESSON

THE EPIPHANY (ISAIAH 9:5-6)

- By Mr. Greg Ibeawuchi

For a son has been born for us, a son has been given to us, and dominion has been laid on his shoulders; and this is the name he has been given, ‘Wonder-Counsellor, Mighty-God, eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace’ to extend his dominion in boundless peace, over the throne of David and over his kingdom to it secure and sustain it in far judgement and integrity. From this time onwards and forever, the jealous love of Yahweh Sabaoth will do this.

FIFTH LESSON

THE ANNUNCIATION (LUKE 1:26-38)

- By Lola Ademolekun

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man names Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, “Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! The Lord is with you. She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, “Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and called Son of the Most High, The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule oer the House of Jacob forever and his reign will have no end.” Mary said to the angel, “But how can this come about since I have no knowledge of man?” the angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child be holy and will be called Son of God. And I tell you this too: your cousin Elizabeth also, in her old age, has conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month for nothing is impossible to God.” Mary said, “You see before you the Lord’s servant, let it happen to me as you have said.” and the angel left her.

THE BIRTH OF CHRIST (LUKE 2:1-7)

- By Angela Oguguoko

Now it happened that at this time Caeser Augustus issued a decree that a should be made of the whole inhabited world. The census - the first - took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria, and everyone went to be registered, each to his own town. So Joseph set out from the town of Nazareth in Galilee for Judea, to David ‘s town called Bethlehem, since he was of David’s House and line, in order to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. Now it happened that while the were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to a son, her first born. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the living-space.

THE SHEPHERD KEPT WATCH (LUKE 2: 8; 15-16)

- By Geraldine Anyanwu

In the countryside close by there were shepherds out in the fields keeping guards over their sheep during the watches of the night. An angel of the Lord stood over them and the glory of the Lord shone round them. They were terrified, but he said, “Do not be afraid. Look, I bring you good news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the whole people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. Now it happened that when the angels had gone from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go to Bethlehem and see this event which the Lord has made known to us. “So they hurried away and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger.

VISITORS FROM THE EAST (MATTHEW 2:1-7; 7-9)

- By Amy Evborokhai

After Jesus has been born at Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of King Herold, suddenly some wise men came to Jerusalem from the east asking, “Where is the infant king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose and have come to do him homage.” then, Herod summoned the wise men to see him privately. He asked them the exact date on which the star had appeared and sent them to Bethlehem with words, “Go and find out all about the child and when you have found him, let me know so that I too may go and do him homage.” having listened to what the king had to say, they set out. And suddenly the star they had seen rising went forward and halted over the place where the child was.

NINTH LESSON

THE WORD OF LIFE (THE THIRD PREFECT)

- By Juliana Idang

In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things came into being, not one thing came into being except through him. What has come into being in him was life, life that was the light of men; and light shines in darkness, and darkness could not overpower it.
