In order
to build the digital capacities of its employees, the Korean Ministry of
Government Legislation held lectures on generative artificial intelligence and
blockchain, considering the global rise of advanced technologies.
The three-part
series of special lectures titled, “Essential Survival Strategies in the Era of
Generative AI,” was organized by Minister Lee Wan-kyu’s to educate Ministry
employees on the promotion and regulation of new technologies such as
generative AI and blockchain, which have been gaining traction as key topics in
recent legislative discussions.
The first
lecture accentuated how blockchain technology would impact South Korean society
in the future and shared insights into the trajectory of related legislation.
The second
one examined the kind of mindset that public officials should adopt in the era
of generative AI, underscoring the importance of reassessing their attitude
towards innovative technology while still valuing the essential principles for
our way of life.
The third
one was on virtual assets and anti-money laundering, which emphasized the
significance of instituting regulatory measures for preventing money laundering
related to virtual assets.
There are
worries over the potential for virtual assets to facilitate money laundering
due to their key characteristics such as anonymity and decentralization.
