Yes, the
freewill donation was made to support Enugu State Government investment drive program
that will improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state. The
representatives of five autonomous communities, led by Barrister Albert Edoga, made this development known during a
courtesy visit on the governor, Rt. Hon.
Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, at the Government House, Enugu.
During the
courtesy visit, Barrister Edoga revealed that the land in question; which is
surrounded with five streams; has the natural potentials to produce cash crops
like pepper, rice, cassava, ose-nsukka, maize, yam and other agro-product. He
also said that that they had decided as a people to engage the government
constructively for mutual benefits.
The visibly elated
governor, while responding to the representatives, expressed his for the desire
of the communities to assist his government in the investment drive program.
In the
governor’s own words: “Since it has pleased you to
willingly assist the government of Enugu State in this all important commercial
agriculture, I appreciate your kind gesture. 680 hectares of land with natural
endowment like streams is massive and attractive for commercial agriculture. I
believe we are now better positioned to take agriculture to the next level in
the state.”
