NEW FINANCE MINISTER, KEMI ADEOSUN, MEETS COUNTRY DIRECTORS OF WORLD BANK, AFDB AND IMF

A renowned economist and immediate past Commissioner for Finance in Ogun State who is the new Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has met the Country Directors of the World Bank, Rachid Benmessaoud ;  that of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Gene Leone; and that of African Development Bank(AfDB), Dr. Dore Ousmane, in order to make the best use of the working relationship between the country and the development finance institutions.

Tectono Business Review gathered that Mrs. Adeosun met separately with each of the country directors in her office, in Abuja, a few days ago. We learnt that during the meetings, she solicited for a continuous cooperation and assistance from each of the organizations which had been undertaking various developmental projects and programmes towards the socio-economic advancement of the nation.

The minister made the heads of the institutions in Nigeria believe that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was unwavering in ensuring a judicious use of all resources at its disposal and that it would appreciate cooperation from them.

The brilliant United Kingdom-trained economist communicated the plans by the federal government to diversify the nation’s economy with a view to paying greater attention to the solid minerals sector and agriculture, while increasing power sector capacity in order to create more opportunities in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs sector.

In his remark, World bank country director, Rachid Benmessaoud, told Mrs. Adeosun that the organization had been a long-standing Nigeria’s partner in her development efforts and that it would diligently work towards a successful implementation of all its projects in the country.
