FUTURE CHALLENGES OF THE ENERGY SECTOR – THE RENEWABLE PATH
Finding
alternatives to hydrocarbon based energy supply systems has become a matter of
economic and environmental expediency. Nigerian’s huge reserves of oil and gas
have been the basis for fiscal plans and objectives.
In
view of the current realities of falling oil prices and global concerns for the
environment, there is need for a shift in focus to renewable energy and its
penetration in relevant sectors of the economy.
In
this regard, the Petroleum Technology
Development Fund in collaboration with Cranfield
University, London, will be hosting a gathering of experts from Nigeria and
abroad to address future challenges of the energy sector; the renewable path. This
is at a seminar/lecture programme scheduled as follows:
