The celebrated professor, while speaking on ‘Northern Nigeria’s Prosperity in the 21st Century: The Imperative of Social and Economic Transformation,’ emphasized the necessity of the government to take proactive measures through the implementation of various intervention programmes meant for enhancing living conditions of the common people. In his own words, “Ninety two million Nigerians are living in extreme poverty out of which 67 per cent of the number is in the north.”

He also identified many other reasons responsible for the socio-economic challenges bothering the country.
