Our correspondent saw an able-bodied
man kneeling down and begging for money along the traffic at Agnes junction,
very close to St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Yaba, Lagos. You may be wondering
why a very healthy man like this should resort to begging to eat.
Many people have lost their jobs.
Innumerable businesses have closed down owing to bad economy orchestrated by
bad leaders. Even petty trading is very difficult to do. Not everybody is
strong enough to do hard jobs. Is it not when you eat well that you will have
the energy to do manual jobs? Money is no more in circulation. Rather, its
possession is restricted to very few hands. People now look older than their
ages owing to difficulties. What sort of country is this?
