HOW DID AFRICUNIA BANK COME INTO EXISTENCE?

This is one question I know majority of persons will be interested in the answer since it has to do with our history and that's why I've chosen to begin with this.

 

It was in sometime January 2017 when the President and Founder of AFRICUNIA woke up one morning in Austria his base at that time and thought about how to bring financial freedom to the less privileged in AFRICA and by extension to the world in a world where the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

 

How can one man dare to embark on an impossible mission such as this, you'd ask? Even I asked the same question and even more.

 

I'd leave this part unanswered hoping that someday, you'd have the opportunity of meeting with the founder himself and ask this question yourself and I'm 💯 sure that he'll be more than happy to oblige you.

 

But let's move forward. When this thought of changing the financial status quo came, he started making lots of research and consultation and fast forward to July 10th 2017, AFRICUNIA was born.

 

On this faithful, memorable and historic day, AFRICUNIA was registered at our headquarter in the UK as AFRICUNIA LIMITED under the UK Government's Standard Industrial Classification for Banks and Financial Services. Moving on from there, we quickly expanded to Nigeria and registered with the corporate affairs commission on the 13th, of October 2017 as AFRICUNIA NIGERIA LIMITED. Since AFRICUNIA is a GLOBAL BRAND, though having AFRICA as its major focus, we expanded to CANADA. And on the 3rd, of April 2020, we registered in Canada as AFRICUNIA INCORPORATED and are regulated by Canadian FINTRAC. On the 16th, of May 2022, we registered in Zambia under Pacra as AFRICUNIA INVESTMENTS LIMITED which is our latest feat in terms of expansion.

 

The name AFRICUNIA may sound strange to you if you're hearing it for the first time and I can understand why. Let me quickly help you with the origin of the name AFRICUNIA.

 

The "CUNIA" in AFRICUNIA comes from the Latin word "PERCUNIA" which means money or cash. So, simply put, AFRICUNIA means AFRICAN MONEY. Now I believe you have a better understanding about the name AFRICUNIA, don't you?

Remember our subject matter is AFRICUNIA BANK. But if you noticed, I've been talking about AFRICUNIA only and not AFRICUNIA BANK. It's important to talk about AFRICUNIA first before talking about AFRICUNIA BANK because AFRICUNIA is the parent company of AFRICUNIA BANK. It might interest you to know therefore, that AFRICUNIA is an Eco System that has given birth to so many subsidiaries like: AFRICUNIA BANK, AFRICUNIA TV,  VENDABUY, JOINTIUM, PANGRAM CITY, AFRICUNIA RECORDS, ETC.

 

Now, because we're in Nigeria and to further meet with some requirements and the laws of the land to operate freely, we registered with the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment for our TRADEMARK: AFRICUNIA BANK. This was how AFRICUNIA BANK finally came into the picture. It is now safe to say that you now know how AFRICUNIA BANK came into existence.
