WHY THE SECURITY MANAGEMENT IN NIGERIA HAS ABYSMALLY FAILED

I am Chief Ugwokeh Nnaemeka, the Executive Chairman of Tectono Group. The empirical cause of the abysmal failure in the security management of Nigeria is traceable to our constitution. That is why the contemporary federal government cannot show its Nigerianess in security management.

 

Nigeria is sitting on a fraudulent constitution with fictitious population indices manipulated to favour a region called the Hausa/Fulani. This kind of constitution has expunged a sense of belonging from other regions.

 

In this contemporary developments in technology, Google can count the number of people in every given area. This can make the correct population of regions a seamless exercise, but this present government does not want to use it.

 

This fraudulent constitution was promulgated and enacted into law by a group of army officers that saw the exercise of constitution making as an instrument of war booty.

 

Is Nigeria really a federation? Nigeria is the only country that I have seen that is called a federation that defies the political lexicography of a federation.

 

As a result of that fraudulent constitution, Nigeria is the only country referred to as a federation where all the heads of security apparatus and key federal parastatals are domiciled in one region called the Hausa/Fulani, not by dint of their competence, but by the region they are from.

 

Consequently, the security management in Nigeria has failed woefully. Since I was born, I have never witnessed this contemporary height of killing of Nigerians on a daily basis with impunity. Kidnapping has become a very lucrative business.

 

What baffles me most is that up till today, no Boko Haram member has been imprisoned. No Fulani herdsman is before any court. Nigeria is now is a state of war without anybody declaring a war. Can the heads of security apparatus say that they are not aware of those people sponsoring killing of innocent people in Nigeria. There are indications that they are collaborating with them.

 

Something has to be done urgently because Nigerians are tired of this acute level of insecurity in the country. The constitution has to be revisited with accurate population indices in order to give all the regions in the country a sense of belonging.

 

The incompetent people heading the security apparatus of Nigeria must be disengaged with immediate effect and be replaced with the competent ones. Federal power must shift from the Hausa/Fulani region.

 

The funny thing is that the Hausa/Fulani region has perfected plans to hold unto power perpetually. Northern members of the ruling political party, the All progressives Party (APC), have started decamping to the People Democratic Party (PDP) in solidarity with the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is from that region.

 

Before the end of this year, all the northern APC members, including political office holders, must have decamped to PDP. Those that will remain will become PDP moles in APC.

 

If a Fulani man becomes the president of Nigeria again, there will be a chain of continuity of insecurity. I am challenging Nigerians to wake up from their slumber. Let us vote wisely.
