The serpent is often used as a symbol of wisdom because because of its subtlety- meandering like the river, undercover, non-speaking-hissing, building up strategic tactics, demonstrating no power but have ability to strangulate its prey, sneaking into your presence unnoticed, having no hands or legs to climb but climbs, behaving as if not interested but interested, crawling gradually as if not in a haste but focused.
All
these characteristics you find in woman and that is why the bible associates
great friendship between the snake and the woman. Both of them share this
subtlety. And African ancestors warns about crawling entities that they
dangerous. They get hold of your eyes and blind you before you know it. Such is
the nature of wisdom- tricky intellect.
