NETCO DELIVERS ICT LPG VENTURE IN NIGERIA

NETCO has concluded an offshore gas field project in Nigeria to deliver what it claims is the world's first steel hulled Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) vessel.

The contract, which was awarded to NETCO in 2015 and completed in under a year, covered facility management on the FSO, including data gathering, desktop studies, laser scanning, and the creation of 3D intelligent models using Aveva 3D software tools and the as-built 2D documentation.

A spokesperson representing NETCO declined to name the vessel when asked. A statement read: “The vessel is critical to the customer's operations in the region and a reliable set of as-built documentation was needed to support future modernization and life extension projects. As part of the project, the oil company also wanted to identify any process hazards and assess the condition of the equipment and structures for integrity and reliability."

The LPG FSO converts butane and propane components of the gas stream into liquid products, which are stored in the tanks of the FSO hull prior to being offloaded to LPG tankers used to transport the LPG to market. An updated and validated Master Document Register (MDR) for the vessel allows the client to continue using the LPG FSO safely with the potential to extend its service. (Oil Review Africa)
