In the last edition, we tried to
let the wives, women and mothers see the reason why they should not think about
putting asunder in their marriages. Today, we want the fathers, daddies and men
to know that the Lord has given them the grace to be strong in whatever that
happens in their relationships with their partners, if they understand His
laws, teachings and plans for their union.
The book of Prophet Malachi
2:14-16 says: “You ask, “Why does he not?” Because the
Lord was witness to the covenant between you and the wife of your youth, to
whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by
covenant. Has not the one God made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And
what does he desire? Godly offspring. So, take heed to yourself, and let none
be faithless to the wife of his youth. For I hate divorce, says the Lord the
God of Israel, and covering one’s garment with violent, says the Lord of hosts.
So, take heed to yourselves and do not be faithless.”
If there is any marriage that is
being troubled at the moment, we urge the husband, today, to kindly take an
honest inventory of treacherousness in their union such as violation of
confidence bestowed to them by spouse, betrayal of trust and love, and being
unreliable to your marital vocation. With genuine examination of conscience, it
will begin the needed healing in your home.
Remember in the bible verse
above, the Lord reminded us that this fusion is a covenant, and our father in
heaven, who is your companion. He made you to be one indivisible, unshakable
and united family bearing Godly children that will know him, love him and serve
him, singing the glory, adoration of the Lord God to all nations. Above all, He
mentioned in verse 16 that He hates divorce. So, whatever you are thinking,
have it at the back of your mind that putting asunder your marriage is not
possible. Rather, seek His help and intervention.
Hebrew 13:14 says: “Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but
fornicators and adulterers, God will judge.” So, while you continue to
pray for reconciliation, remember 1 Peter 3:7 which says: “Husbands likewise dwell with them with understanding, giving
honour to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being joint heirs together
of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.”
We pray with you that your effort
for peaceful reconciliation of your union with your spouse will not be hindered
in Jesus name, Amen.
