To reflect its new foray into artificial intelligence (AI), a Canadian crypto mining company, Hive Blockchain, has rebranded to Hive Digital Technologies.

This was made know via a statement released by the company on July 12, 2023 where it revealed that it had dropped the word “blockchain” from its name to reflect its evolving focus on revenue opportunities in graphics processing units (GPUs) and cloud computing, AI and the Web3.

The CEO of Hive, Aydin Kilic, stated it unequivocally that the name change became imperative in view of company’s strategy to reflects both sides of its business as it expands its GPU Cloud business.

Hive develops infrastructure for emerging digital tech, not just blockchain, and intends to use its large fleet of GPUs to grow a cloud hosting business.

We gathered that the company also has a plan of using its 38,000-strong fleet of Nvidia GPUs to provide small and medium-sized businesses with a more efficient alternative to major cloud service providers.
